In an innovative exploration of art and sound, this installation marries the composition Six Japanese Gardens by Kaija Saariaho with the expressive paintings of Marcel van Hoef.

  1. a video production

  2. a live performance with paintings

  3. an exhibition with headphones

Facts & Figures

Practical Info

We have created three versions:

  1. Video production:

    • Suitable for festivals with a high-quality recording.

    • Duration: Approximately 16 minutes.

  2. Live performance with video (and optional paintings):

    • 1 performer, 1 sound technician, local lighting technician.

    • Duration: 16 minutes, with optional additional compositions for a full recital.

    • Technical requirements: Full range PA, video projection, floor space of approximately 3x3 meters.

    • Can include high-quality prints of paintings.

    • Suitable for small to mid-size venues or festivals.

  3. Exhibition

    • Six paintings (preferably high-quality prints) are displayed in a flexible space that can be locked.

    • Headphones for the audience; they can use provided headphones or their own to listen to the entire work while moving from painting to painting.

    • Due to the high cost of real paintings, we are focusing on a version with museum-quality high-quality prints. For exhibitions with the real paintings, please send us a request.
